What we do
The Fusion method
Fusion caters for children of all ages, from 4 to 18. The school is split into two sections, with Junior Fusion looking after the 4 to 7 year olds and the main Saturday School catering for children from 8 to 18.
We teach children with a wide range of talents and aspirations - from stage actors to future pop stars and TV presenters.
Our students are extraordinarily dedicated to their craft, seizing every opportunity to develop their talent and often making substantial sacrifices to do so. One of our pupils made a five hour round trip by public transport every Saturday to study at Fusion - and she didn't miss a session all year.
All of which goes to show that Fusion is much more than a mere school. It has enjoyed great success working with young people from across the social spectrum using the creative arts as a force for good.
This approach has helped give both privileged and underprivileged youngsters a whole host of skills including improved self esteem, confidence and articulacy - alongside a noticeable improvement in fitness and physical health.
Just as importantly it is both great fun and an excellent way of making new and exciting friends.
A success story
With an ever growing list of highly respected patrons, children soon become used to famous faces dropping in for a visit. When Mel B of the Spice Girls stops by to say hello - as she recently did - it lights a fire under our charges, inspiring the crucial inner belief that they too really can make it in showbusiness.
As a result of this inspirational element - combined, of course, with their own talent, sheer hard work and commitment - various students have gone on to study full time at drama school and many have secured professional work
A stage
We put on a minimum of two big shows a year, playing to audiences of hundreds, at which our students can spread their wings and demonstrate their talents to the world.
Fusion also performs regularly in the wider community, singing and acting at grand openings, local events and bringing joy and happiness into old people's homes (another example of how we like to 'give something back').
Recent shows have included a spectacular Christmas medley of stage favourites and our own version of the musical 'Fame'.
A safe environment
Our ratio of adults to pupils in the classroom is roughly 1 to 12. Each teacher has an assistant and, if the class size rises above 25 pupils, we employ a further assistant. All staff are fully CRB-vetted. We also insist on two references for each employee and all staff sign a Code of Conduct drawn up with the help of the NSPCC.
A growing concern
As well as its usual term-time activities Fusion provides intensive summer workshops across the disciplines.
Plans are also at an advanced stage to launch a series of after-school clubs. Under the stewardship of Edward Williams, head of drama at the prestigious St Paul's School in London, they will give thousands more pupils the opportunity to enhance their lives through the performing arts.
